En 1943 se pasó a color reduciendo el número de páginas a 62. En el año 1965 , al realizarse la traducción inglesa, el editor británico señaló a Hergé numerosos errores que contenía este volumen desde el punto de vista inglés. Hergé envió a su colaborador Bob de Moor a Inglaterra con la lista de errores y el encargo de rejuvenecer y autentificar la historia. Así La isla Negra fue totalmente redibujada y modernizada.
Es de observar que ya en la edición de 1937 sale un televisor, y aunque los primeros ensayos datan de 1923 era aún entonces un invento relativamente confidencial.
